Description: A wastewater main, also known as a sewer main or main sewer line, is a large underground pipe that collects and transports wastewater (sewage) from multiple sources, like individual homes or buildings, to a wastewater treatment plant. It acts as a central "highway" in a network of smaller pipes (laterals) that carry wastewater from individual properties.
Description: A wastewater manhole, also known as a sanitary sewer manhole or sewer maintenance hole, is an access point within an underground sanitary sewer system used for maintenance, inspection, and cleaning of the pipes. These structures are typically vertical shafts, often cylindrical, with a removable cover at the surface, allowing workers to enter and access the sewer lines.
Description: A wastewater lateral line, also known as a private sewer lateral, is the pipe that carries wastewater from a building (like a home or business) to the main public sewer line. It's essentially the connection point between your property's plumbing and the city's wastewater system.
Description: Storm sewer inlets are openings in the ground, often found along streets or in low-lying areas, that allow stormwater runoff to enter a storm drain system. They are a crucial part of urban drainage, helping to prevent flooding by directing water into underground pipes that carry it away to larger bodies of water.
Description: Storm sewer manholes are access points, often cylindrical, built into storm drain systems to allow for inspection, maintenance, and repairs of underground pipes. They are crucial for managing stormwater runoff, preventing flooding, and ensuring the efficient operation of drainage systems.
Description: Storm sewer gravity mains are underground pipes that carry stormwater runoff using the force of gravity, without the need for pumps or other mechanical devices. These mains are sloped to ensure water flows downhill from higher elevations to lower ones, eventually reaching a point of discharge, such as a river, lake, or treatment facility.
Description: The Dane County Parcel Database was derived from a variety of source maps including U.S. General Land Office survey plats, deed descriptions, subdivision plats, certified survey maps and right-of-way plats. All new parcels are entered into the database using coordinate geometry (COGO). The map provides a representation of the geometry and topology of tax parcels. The attributes are derived from the Dane County Treasurers database. It is not intended to be used for the legal determination of land ownership or to be in any way a substitute for the land ownership and interest descriptions contained in individual deeds.
